Interact: High School Students & Community Service

Believing that students’ involvement in the Rotary International concept of “service above self” while pursuing their education may lead to both community benefit and future potential membership in Rotary International and a local Rotary club, the Aiken Rotary Club has been instrumental in the formation of student clubs at both high school and college levels in Aiken.

The high school program known as Interact is now in its 5th year at Aiken High School. Interact is a Rotary-sponsored service club that gives young people an opportunity to participate in fun and meaningful service projects while developing leadership skills and making new friends.

The basic principle of the Rotary Interact is to help others. Our motto is “service above self”. Through service activities, those involved with Interact learn the importance of developing leadership skills and personal integrity, demonstrating helpfulness and respect for others, and advancing international understanding and goodwill.

Raising money for worthwhile causes, working within the school, and working directly with people in the community are a few ways Rotary Interact members are involved. Members of the club also assist the Rotary Club of Aiken with various local community service projects.

There are no special requirements for membership other than willingness to help others and a desire to make our community a better place in which to live.
